Ronald G. Shimko

NAUGATUCK - Ronald G. Shimko, 83, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the VITAS unit at St. Mary's Hospital. Mr. Shimko was the husband of the late Margaret (McKane) Shimko who passed away in 2006.

Mr. Shimko was born August 2, 1933 in Bridgeport, the son of the late Geza and Julia (Dobrony) Shimko. He was raised in Bridgeport and was drafted to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was active in the Bridgeport community playing both basketball and baseball. Before moving to Naugatuck in the early 1990s, he was employed by Hubbell Inc. for over 40 years. He enjoyed trips to Mohegan Sun and loved the Red Sox and UCONN Basketball.

He is survived by his daughter Kathy Woodbury and her wife Heather; his grandchildren Brianne Forcucci and her husband Michael and John Letts III; his great grandsons Lucas and Chase.

Arrangements – Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 27 from 5 to 8 PM at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow Street. Memorial contributions may be made to VITAS Innovative Hospice Care.
