Cheshire - Ronald Charles McReavy, 82, known to many as Ron, Da or Coach, passed away Tuesday January 5, 2021 at Midstate Medical Center. He was the husband of Sheila (Tardiff) McReavy.
Mr. McReavy was born February 10, 1938, in Lewiston, ME, son of the late Curtis Valentine McReavy and Evelyn Kingsley McReavy. Ronald was a retired educator from the Cheshire Public Schools, having taught 35 years at Cheshire High School.
Mr. McReavy married Sheila Mary Tardiff, of Brewer, Maine on October 12, 1963. He was a graduate of Bangor High School, and Husson College (BS) Bangor, Maine. He achieved advanced degrees from The University of Hartford, and Central and Southern Connecticut State Universities. While at Cheshire High School, he coached Cross Country and Track for 25 years. Over the 35 years of teaching, he received numerous awards, including Cheshire Teacher of the Year and Connecticut Coach of the year in both Cross Country and Track. Ronald was an active member of the St. Bridget of Sweden Parish in Cheshire, CT. Ronald served in the Air Force National Guard in Bangor, Maine from 1956 to 1962.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, he is survived by his children; Kelly McReavy, of Southington, CT and Kathleen McReavy (Scott) Kassouf, of Milford, CT; and his four grandchildren, Matthew Washburn, of Barre, VT, Rebecca Washburn, of Southington, CT, Sean Kassouf, of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Justin Kassouf, of Milford, CT. He also leaves behind his brother Clifford (Joan) McReavy of Mechanicsville, NY; his sisters-in-laws Carolyn Tardiff and Jean Tardiff; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Marilyn Elaine McReavy.
Arrangements - A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 A.M, on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish/St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St. Cheshire. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St, Bridget Cemetery. There are no calling hours and The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, is assisting with the arrangements.
