Dorothy Rockhill

Middlebury – Dorothy E. Rockhill, 79, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at VITAS at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Lawrence “Ed” Rockhill.

Dorothy was born on November 15, 1934, in Waterbury, a daughter of the late Walter and Mary (McIntire) Selle. She was retired from LaBonne’s Market and was a member of the Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. An avid bingo player, Dorothy also enjoyed the New York Mets and UCONN women’s basketball and watching and feeding birds in her yard.

In addition to her husband of 59 years, Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Lawrence (Jody) Rockhill and his wife, Linda, of Watertown and Steven Rockhill and his girlfriend, Sue, of Woodbury and her daughter Karen Stauffer and her husband Donn of Maine. She will also be missed by her seven grandchildren, Tom and Joleen Rockhill, Jenn, Craig and Darren Stauffer, and Jake and Max Rockhill, and several nieces and nephews including Julie, Joyce, CJ, Kenny and David. She was predeceased by her brother, Walter Selle and her sister, Patricia Woodfield.

The funeral service for Mrs. Rockhill will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, November 14, 2014, at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. Burial will be in Lake Elise Cemetery in Middlebury. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the start of the service.
