CHESHIRE - Robert A. Moffatt, 88, passed away March 4, 2012 at Mid-State Medical Center in Meriden. He was the husband of Esther (Collinge) Moffatt.
Mr. Moffatt was born May 13, 1923 in Lowell, MA the son of the late Edward and Alma (Dahlen) Moffatt. He graduated from Lowell High School and joined the U.S. Army Air Corp. in World War II. He married Esther Collinge on June 15, 1943.
He graduated from Suffolk Law School and was accepted into the F.B.I. He then began is training in Quantico, VA. After completing his training, he was assigned to Newark, NJ for nine months before moving to Little Rock, AR and then to Detroit, MI for nine years. His last assignment was in New Haven where he retired. He continued his career with the State Department teaching criminology at local colleges.
In addition, Mr. Moffatt served on numerous organizations, including the office at institute library and as President of the National Clan Moffatt.
Besides his wife of 68 years, Mr. Moffatt is survived by his daughter Deborah Van Ranst and his grandchildren Grant and Drew.
Arrangements - Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S.
