CHESHIRE- Robert W. Farrell, 87, entered into eternal rest at The Masonicare Hospice in Wallingford. He leaves his loving wife of 60 years, Gloria G. (VonBeren) Farrell. He was born July 17, 1925 in West Haven. Robert was the son of the late Samuel and Margaret (Reynolds) Farrell.
Robert enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943 and served during World War II and the Korean War. He felt honored to serve his country and had many fond memories of the ports of call in which he served, including French Morocco, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, England, Ireland, Bermuda, Greece, Belgium, Nova Scotia, Portugal, and his favorite, Norway. Upon his discharge in 1956 after serving his country for eleven years, Robert embarked on a thirty five year career as a Machinist at Pratt and Whitney's North Haven facility.Mr. Farrell resided in Cheshire and summered in Madison for 55 years and was a member of the Cheshire Lutheran Church. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Robert was an avid boater and fisherman, and truly enjoyed his time at the shore in Madison.
Besides his wife, Gloria, Robert is survived by a son; Robert W. Jr. and his wife Jane Farrell of Wallingford, a daughter; Patricia and her husband Dennis Farrel of Cheshire, and his beloved grandchildren; Lindsay, molly, Peter, Steven, Rachel, and Emma, two nieces, five nephews, and one grand-nephew. Robert is predeceased by a son; Stephen Farrell and his brother; Samuel Farrell.
Arrangements- A private graveside service with full military honors for Robert will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
