Robert DeVylder Sr., 72, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at the Hospital of Central CT - Bradley Memorial Campus. He was the husband of Nancy DeVylder.
Mr. DeVylder was born April 29, 1948, in Waterbury, the son of the late Edgar and Lillian (Cordett) DeVylder. He was Police Officer for the town of Wallingford, retiring in 1998 after 25 years of service. Prior to his years of service in Wallingford, he was a Supernumerary Police Officer for the Town of Cheshire. He was known for his various likes and dislikes. He enjoyed the Boston Red Sox, Cherry Pie, Lobster, Driving, The History Channel, and especially his family. Some of his dislikes were Sweet Potatoes, Stephen Colbert, Paperwork, and have to supply an email address to get a discount.
Besides his wife of 46 years, Mr. DeVylder is survived by his son Robert Jr. and his wife Sheila of Cheshire; his daughters Elizabeth DeVylder and her fiance Robert Pietrzak of Berlin, and Kyle Kohl and her husband Cameron of Port Orchard, WA; their family dog Dottie; his grandchildren Lindsay, Sean, Katelyn, Rocky, Ryan, and Alistair; his brothers Edgar, David, Thomas; his sisters Lillian Moore and Eileen Meier. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother Dennis.
Arrangements – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Most Holy Trinity Church, 84 N. Colony St, Wallingford. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in New St. Joseph Cemetery in Waterbury. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 7 pm at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to an organization of the donor’s choice.
