Robert Davey

Robert Davey, age 89, of Cheshire entered into rest peacefully at his home on Monday, October 20, 2014 with his loving family by his side. He was the devoted husband of Rita (Gravel) Davey for 61 years. Robert was born on February 12, 1925 in Manhattan, NY, son of the late Fred and Rose (Hozempa) Davey.

Mr. Davey earned his Masters in Education from Columbia University and his second Masters degree - in Education - at Fordham University. He was a Communicant of St. Bridget’s Church and a member of the Legion of Mary.

Robert is the beloved father of Kevin Davey of Winsted; Brian Davey and his wife Bridget of Cheshire; Mary Ellen Davey of Maryland; and Meg Bailey and her husband Ned of Wallingford. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren; Joseph, Christopher, Philip, Liam, Connor and Ryan; and his brother Joseph Davey and his wife Rody; his sister Lillian Bean; and sister-in-law Joan Davey. Robert was predeceased by his brother Frank Davey and his sister Rose Burchins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 12PM at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire. Interment will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. There are no calling hours. At the request of his family, memorial contributions may be made to Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care, 267 Finch Avenue, Meriden CT 06451.
