WATERBURY- Robert C. Hjalmeer, 77, went to be at peace with his lord and savior, Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Sharon E. (Coutts) Hjalmeer whom he was married to for 25 years.

Mr. Hjalmeer was born November 11, 1941 in Manchester son of the late Carl Robert and Lorraine (Wegner) Hjalmeer.

He was a Transportation Escort prior to his retirement. Robert was an avid fisherman, loved attending church, and above all spending time with his family.

Besides his wife he is survived by his children Melissa and her husband Dale Hansen of Union, NB, Eric and his wife Aishah Hjalmeer of Manchester, and Matthew and his wife Amanda Hjalmeer of Cromwell; two step-daughters Michele Iorio and her fiancé David Fontan of Waterbury, and Gina Natale of Waterbury; his sister Gail Mitrowski; ten grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

A Celebration of Robert’s Life will be held, 3 P.M, Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Bible Church of Waterbury, 64 Dwight St, 06704. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. There are no calling hours and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 496 Chase Ave, 06704 is assisting the family with the arrangements. Donations in his name can be made to Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Pkwy, Waterbury, 06708.
