Naugatuck, CT Rita E. Roxbury, 93, formerly of Naugatuck and the widow of William Roxbury, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025 at Bishop Wicke Health Center in Shelton.
Rita was born March 22, 1932 in Panama City, Panama, daughter of the late Victor and Ana (Correa) Fisher. Before retiring, Rita worked for many years as a secretary at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport. Rita’s unwavering Catholic faith was a cornerstone of her life. Rita was a devoted and faithful parishioner of St. Vincent Ferrer Church in Naugatuck, where she had served as a Eucharistic Minister as well as being involved with a daily morning mass/prayer group. Rita enjoyed singing and listening to music. She also had the gift of being a naturally talented artist and loved painting religious themed artwork.
Rita was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Rita is survived by her children, William Roxbury Jr., Kenneth Roxbury, Paul Roxbury (Loraine) and Theresa Soltis (Peter); her granddaughters, Kaitlin Soltis and Kristin Soltis; her sister, Veronica Lawson and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Victor, and two sisters, Mary and Anne.
We would also like to thank all of the dedicated staff at Bishop Wicke for their compassionate care that Rita has received there over the last five years of her life.
A calling hour will be on Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, 1006 New Haven Road, Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck.
