Richard J. Pelliccia, Sr.

Richard Joseph Pelliccia Sr

Richard (Dick) Pelliccia Sr, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025 at the age of 81. Richard was born in New Haven, CT to the late Joe and Helen Pelliccia, and most recently resided in Naugatuck, CT.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbi Pelliccia; son, Richard Pelliccia Jr.; grandchildren, Justin, Carli, Evan, Julia and Brandon; great grandchildren, Carmine and Elena; and brothers Ron and Joe Pelliccia. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 59 years, Susan Mary Pelliccia; his son Jason, who he loved and cherished his entire life; and his brother Bobby Pelliccia.

Richard’s proudest accomplishments were his marriage, children and grandchildren. Other than his family, he was truly proud of his time serving in the U.S Navy. He served during the Vietnam War and sailed on the USS Nitro (AE-23). He was also very proud to be an alumnus of Hillhouse High School. He played on the same football team as NFL Hall of Fame running back, Floyd Little. He had a great story about how Floyd said “It felt like I ran into a wall, that’s how hard you hit me”, despite Dick never being more than 5’6” 150 lb.

Richard enjoyed supporting his kids and grandkids at their sporting events, always giving them a folded up $5 bill after every game. He enjoyed having the best front lawn on his street. He was the epitome of a handy man, fixing and building things around the house regularly. He loved watching sports too, as he was a huge fan of the New York Giants and UConn Women’s basketball.

For those who knew Dick, they will remember him as a quiet, intelligent, selfless man who did anything for someone he cared about.
