PROSPECT- Richard Delano Lestage, 82, formerly of Waterbury passed away, Monday April 4, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Dolores (Sasso) Bessette-Lestage whom he was married to for 30 years.
Mr. Lestage was born May 17, 1933 in Waterbury son of the late Arthur and Emily (Soucy) Lestage.
Richard served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal before being Honorably Discharged.
He was employed at Waterbury Rolling Mills as a Slitter prior to his retirement. Richard was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #7790 in the Brooklyn section of Waterbury, the Catholic Knights, and the Waterbury Elks Lodge B.P.O.E #265.
Besides his loving wife he is survived by two daughters Lois Lestage of Waterbury, and Karen and her husband Stewart Rosen of Wolcott; his step-children Anita and her husband Paul Bresnahan of Prospect, and Ray and his wife Risa Bessette of Bremerton, WA; step-grandchildren Brixon Roberts, Eric and Stefanie Bresnahan, Ray Bessette, and Rachel Bessette; his grandson Neal Rosen; three great-grandchildren Estelle, Aubrey, and Evan; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Lestage was predeceased by his son Mark Lestage, and his brother Paul “Pepper” Lestage.
Arrangements- A Memorial Mass for Richard will be held 10 A.M, Saturday, April 9, 2016 at St. Anthony’ Church, 4 Union City Rd, Prospect, CT 06712. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. Military Honors will be conducted at the conclusion of the Memorial Mass outside of church. There are no calling hours and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave, 06710 is assisting with the arrangements.
