Naugatuck, CT Joaquim S. Rebimbas, 71, the husband of Gracinda M. Rebimbas, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2016 in the VITAS Hospice Unit at St. Mary’s Hospital with his family at his side.
Mr. Rebimbas was born on October 15, 1944 in Pardelhas Murtosa, Portugal a son of the late Francisco and Maria do Ceu Soares Rebimbas and had lived in Naugatuck for most of his life. He was a former employee of the L.G. DeFelice Construction Company, a member of the Laborers Union #390, a member of the Club Uniao Portuguesa and a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Joaquim A. “Jack” Rebimbas of Prospect and Miguel F. “Michael” Rebimbas of West Palm Beach, FL; his brothers, Francisco Rebimbas and his wife Rosa and Diamantino Rebimbas and his wife Maria Rosa all of Naugatuck; his sister, Luisa Oliveira and her husband Pedro of Naugatuck; his brother in law, Davide Ruela of Naugatuck; his sister in law, Maria Matos and her husband Henrique of NJ; his brother in law, Francisco Santos of Portugal and many nieces and nephews in the United States and in Portugal. Mr. Rebimbas was predeceased by his brothers, Zeferino Rebimbas and Jose Rebimbas and his sister, Gloria Ruela.
Mrs Rebimbas and sons would like to extend sincerest thanks and appreciation to Dr Linao, Dr Sabbath and staff at Smilow Cancer Hospital Waterbury.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 at 9:00am from the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin Street, Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home.
