Raymond E. Verner

Raymond Edward Verner died on October 17, 2023 at his son’s home in Carol Stream, IL. Ray was the beloved husband of Eleanor Chabot Verner for 60 years.

Ray was born on March 9, 1934 in Waterbury, to Cheshire residents William and Myra (Williams) Verner. He grew up in Cheshire, and graduated from Hamden High School. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He was stationed in Germany for 15 months. Prior to his retirement in 1997, Ray was employed by Sealtest Foods and New England Dairies for 42 years. He delivered milk to homes and later, stores. He moved to Carol Stream, IL on January 26th, 2023 to live with his son and daughter-in-law. 

Ray was devoted to his family. He and his wife Ellie enjoyed taking several tours to Germany and Alaska. He enjoyed fishing with his relatives and friends. He was a member of Cheshire Lutheran Church, the Bristol German-American society, the Connecticut German-American Day committee, and the Hamden Fish and Game Association.

He is survived by his son Robert Williams Verner and his wife, Katherine; his granddaughters Lauren and Rachel, his brother and sister-in-law, Wilbur and Darlene; his sister-in-law, Annmarie Verner, and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Ellie, brothers Myron and Richard, his in-laws Harry and Olga Chabot, and his brother-in-law Ronald Chabot.
