Wallingford - Randy Marinaro, 68, of Wallingford and Cheshire passed into eternal rest peacefully in his sleep on Monday, September 9, 2024. He is survived by his wife Vicki (Lassen), his two sons Eric (Hilary) and their daughter Finley of Southington, and Tommy of Cheshire.
Born on October 8, 1956, (the day he liked to note was NY Yankee pitcher Don Larsen’s perfect game) in Waterbury, he was the son of the late Robert and Elizabeth Marinaro and lived and worked in Cheshire for many years. He was a graduate of Cheshire High School, Class of 1974.
Randy was the store manager for decades at the family supermarket, Cheshire IGA, and later with Stop & Shop supermarkets. He was a hard worker and a friend to so many. It was hard to beat him in anything trivia-related or in Sudoku. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. He was known for his homemade onion soup, veal cutlets, fettuccine alfredo, and baked stuffed shrimp he made every Christmas Eve.
Randy grew up in Cheshire and maintained friendships from high school to this day. He had many happy times playing softball, barbecuing, playing fantasy football, making wine, and hosting picnics and holidays at his house. Randy was the one everyone called when they needed something fixed.
Randy had deep love and pride for his two sons, Eric and Tommy, his daughter-in-law Hilary, and his cherished granddaughter Finley. He also is survived by his four brothers: his identical twin Ricky of Wallingford, who cared for him this past year; his oldest brother Bob (Katie) of Watertown; his sister Leslie of Cheshire and youngest brother Roy (Tiffani), of Point Richmond, CA.
He had special relationships with his many nephews, nieces, step-children and step-grandchildren. Many of his kid's friends knew him as “Big Rand”. The newest addition to the family, Finley, brought a smile to his face these last 4 years and he was looking forward to the upcoming birth of his second granddaughter Lainey.
He is also survived by many loving cousins and lifelong and cherished friends. We know Randy is happy and healthy with his parents, family, and friends who passed before, and his cherished dog Ollie by his side in heaven.
The family would like to thank Mattatuck Heights Davita Dialysis for such wonderful care the last few years and his friend Harry who was there for him when needed.
Arrangements – Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 4 to 7 pm at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St. Funeral services and committal will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Bridget Cemetery.
