Rachel S. Munger

Rachel S. Munger, age 96, of Cheshire entered into rest on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at her home. She was the devoted wife of the late William B. Munger, Sr for over 66 years until his passing in 2013. Rachel was born on January 23, 1925 in Meriden, daughter of the late Forest and Hazel (Clark) Scott.

Rachel grew up in Meriden. She and her husband, Bill Sr. were married on May 17, 1947 and soon after started their family in Cheshire. Rachel was a nursery school teacher in Cheshire, and also worked as a nanny and realtor in town. Later in life, she and Bill enjoyed RVing throughout the U.S. making lifelong friends at every stop along the way.

Rachel is the beloved mother of Elizabeth Jones and her husband, A.J. of WV. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Joan Munger of Wallingford; foster daughter, Linda Clark; her loving granddaughter, Rachel Ramsey and her husband, Alan and her cherished great-granddaughter, Rosalie. She was predeceased by her son, William Munger, Jr.

Friends may greet Rachel’s family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410 on Monday, November 1, 2021 from 4PM until 6PM. On Tuesday, November 2, 2021 a Celebration of Life will be held at the funeral home at 11AM. Rachel’s burial will be private and at the convenience of her family.
