Richard Pruchnicki

NAUGATUCK - Richard H. Pruchnicki, age 71, of 114 Briarwood Road, died Friday, April 23, 2010, at Saint Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. He was the husband of Marilyn L. (Giannelli) Pruchnicki.

Mr. Pruchnicki was born in Waterbury on April 11, 1939, a son of Bernice (Szczesiul) Pruchnicki of Waterbury and the late Henry Pruchnicki. He was retired from the Borough of Naugatuck school system where he taught at Hillside Middle School for 42 years and also worked part time as a photographer. He was a communicant of St. Hedwig's Church in Naugatuck, where he served as a eucharistic minister. He enjoyed playing golf, was a member of the Watertown Golf Club and also enjoyed biking and photography.

Besides his wife and mother, Mr. Pruchnicki is survived by a daughter, Lori Cizeski and her husband, John, of Burlington; two sons, Richard Pruchnicki of Los Angeles, Calif., and Ken Pruchnicki of Milford; a sister, Patricia Kowcheris of Naugatuck; two brothers, John Pruchnicki and his wife, Elaine, of Middlebury and Henry Pruchnicki and his wife, Claudette, of Waterbury; two grandchildren, Jay Cizeski and Ricky Cizeski; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. from the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, to St. Hedwig's Roman Catholic Church, 32 Golden Hill St., Naugatuck, for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in Naugatuck. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, April 26, from 5 to 8 p.m.
