PROSPECT - Olga L. (Gomez) Preta, age 47, of Prospect, died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Olga was born in Bogota, Colombia on Aug. 28, 1965, a daughter of Francisco and Rosalba (Hernandez) Gomez of Prospect. She attended Prospect schools and also college. She was a truly loving daughter, sister and aunt and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her two nephews, and will always be remembered for her smile. She also loved animals.
Besides her parents, Olga is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Pinho and her husband, Antonio, of Prospect and Janet Duffield and her husband, John, of Santa Monica, Calif.; two nephews, Christian and Andrew Pinho; her former husband, Carlos Preta; several aunts and uncles in Colombia, many cousins in Canada, Florida, France, Colombia and Israel, and her dear friend, Keith Nelthrop.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin St., Waterbury. Family and friends are asked to please meet directly at the church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Route 69, Prospect.
