Prospect-Mary Agnes (Mihalcik) Poulin, 107, died peacefully in her sleep at Wolcott View Manor Convalescent Center on Monday, June 14, 2010. Mrs. Poulin was married to the late George Poulin, Sr. for over 42 years.
Mrs. Poulin was born on December 8, 1902 in Derby, CT daughter of the late John and Frances (Repka) Mihalcik.
She moved to Union City after her marriage and lived on E. Waterbury Rd for over 62 years. Later in life Mrs. Poulin worked at the Naugatuck YMCA and several other businesses. Mrs. Poulin was a WWI widow, she was very active in the Prospect Senior Citizens and loved to play pinocle, knit and crochet and was a joy to all who knew her. She will be sadly missed but her stories and her kind and generous spirit will live on through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church.
Mrs. Poulin is survived by two daughters, Elaine Pizzuto and Bernadette Garrity both of Prospect, one brother Joseph Mihalcik and his wife Vera of Hamden, a daughter in law Mae Poulin of Prospect, eleven granchildren, twenty-one grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by one son, George Poulin, Jr., four sisters, Margaret Coger, Julie DeFelice, Anna Karkut and Helen Warhika, one brother, John Mihalcik, two son in laws, Ernest Pizzuto, Sr. and John Garrity both of Prospect.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wolcott View Manor for their contant loving care. She was very fortunate to have you all in the last chapter of her life.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 10:00 am at St. Anthony's Church, friends are asked to meet at the church at 9:50 am. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. There will be private family calling hours and the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Rd, Rte. 69, Prospect is in charge of arrangements.
