Pina J. DiVito

Naugatuck - Pina J. DiVito (nee Forchielli), 99, passed away on Saturday March 15, 2025 at the Glendale Center. She was the wife of the late Salvatore “Red” DiVito. Mrs. DiVito was born in Naugatuck, the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Arminia (Alesandrini) Forchielli. As a lifelong resident of Naugatuck, she was employed for over 30 years at Peter Paul.

Family was most important to Pina, and she cherished anytime everyone was together. She loved the family parties on 4th of July and Christmas Eve. Pina enjoyed reading, crocheting, swimming, clamming and the beach. Walking in the ocean water in Clinton always made her happy; it was like the “fountain of youth” for her! She was a tremendous cook and loved making many homemade meals including her dough, pasta, pizza, raviolis, soups, and pies. Many of her recipes were handed down from her mother. Pina had a wonderful sense of humor and always enjoyed a good laugh. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Pina was very athletic when she was younger, playing basketball and volleyball as a teenager and badminton at family outings. She was an exceptional duckpin bowler, winning many trophies and was proud of her bowling accomplishments. Even as she grew older, she continued to play sports in the yard with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society and a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.

Mrs. DiVito is survived by her sons Steven (Christine VerSnyder) DiVito and Brian DiVito; her two grandchildren Allie (Darrell) Wilson and Jeff (Maria) DiVito. She is also survived by her three great granddaughters Reign, Serena and Aliyah, as well as several nieces and nephews. Pina always had immense pride for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides her husband, she is predeceased by her brothers Edio, Enio, and Louis Forchielli and a sister Ada Jenkins.
