PROSPECT — Richard A. Pierpont, 85, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Richard was the husband of Gertrude (Clark) Pierpont.
Richard was born March 1, 1926, in Waterbury, and was the son of the late Harold and Sara Pierpont. He worked in the maintenance department at Waterbury Hospital for many years until his retirement in 1990. Richard was also a U.S. Army veteran and served as a medic during WWII. He was a member of the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department, a past member of the Board of Education in Prospect and was very active in the Prospect Congregational Church and the Fresh Start Fellowship Church in Florida.
Besides his wife, Gertrude, of 65 years, Richard is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Barrere and her husband, Christopher, of Prospect and Patricia Burns and her husband, Donald, of California; one son, Ronald Pierpont and and his wife, Nadine, of Delaware; two sisters, Silvia Russell and Violet Semarero, both of Wolcott; as well as seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by a sister, Alice Tucker, and a brother, Clarence Pierpont.
A celebration of Richard's life will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at the Prospect Congregational Church, 25 Center St., Prospect, at 5 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Road, Prospect, is in care of arrangements.
