Phyllis J. Van Wie

Cheshire – Phyllis J. Van Wie, 87, passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 19, 2016 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Donald R. Van Wie who passed away in 2008.

Mrs. Van Wie was born December 28, 1928 in Eden, NY, the only surviving child of the late Elmer H. and Evelyn G. (Kirbis) Reed. She was in sales for Stanley Home Products starting in Western New York and was transferred to CT as a Division Sales Manager for over 30 years. She was a longtime Cheshire resident, former member of the Eastern Star, chaired the Chapman PTO, was a master bridge player and was very involved at the Cheshire United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Van Wie is survived by her five children: Daniel R. of Waterbury, Dawn E. (Sergio) Deganis of Cheshire, Douglas R. (Sharon) of Cheshire, Debra L. Govostes of North Reading, MA., and Donald R. Jr. of Manchester and her 11 grandchildren: Marisa, Ryan, Justin, Julianne, Mark, John, Alexandra, Meghan, Marina, Nicky and Jake and one great granddaughter, Claire.

Arrangements – A Memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at the Cheshire United Methodist Church, 205 Academy Rd. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family at Cheshire Hillside Cemetery and there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cheshire United Methodist Church, 205 Academy Rd., Cheshire, CT 06410.
