CHESHIRE - Phyllis Damato, 90, passed away Wednesday January 11, 2012 at Whitney Manor in Hamden. She was the wife of Silvio Damato.
Mrs. Damato was born December 19, 1921 in New Haven, the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Franco) Massimino. She was an administrative assistant for Yale University for many years. She was a Cheshire resident for the last 10 years where she was a communicant of St. Thomas Becket Church. She was a member of Racebrook Country Club where she enjoyed golf. She also enjoyed traveling, painting and trips to the casino.
Besides her husband of 66 years, Mrs. Damato is survived by her sons Dennis and his wife Robin and Gary and his wife Linda of Cheshire; her grandchildren Tyler and Jamie Damato and Leslie Silva and her husband Steve; and her sister-in-law Jean Massimino. She is predeceased by her brother Ralph Massimino and her sister Natty Acquarulo.
She was known for saying "I don't have a favorite son, I have two."
Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Friday January 13, 2012, 9:00 a.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home, 615 S. Main St to St. Thomas Becket Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9 a.m. until the funeral procession leaves for Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Promise to Nicholas Foundation, P.O.
