Phoebe J. Drown

NAUGATUCK - Phoebe J. Drown, 82, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family and friends.

Mrs. Drown was born December 26, 1939, in Naugatuck, the daughter of (the late) David and Dena (Christensen) Ostrom. Phoebe was a special woman that made an impact on everyone she met. Her ever-loving tenacious spirit got her through raising five boys by herself. As a lifelong Naugatuck resident, she loved Naugy football and was faithful in watching her kids and grandkids play. The annual Thanksgiving Day game always brought out her competitive side whether there in person or listening in. She was the epitome of was family is. Holidays were always magical, the atmosphere over the top. She proudly displayed her Swedish heritage and found great joy in decorating for each season and celebrating everything in-between. Her door was always open and coffee was always on. She was a true confidant, keeper of secrets, and giver of wisdom. She worked hard, providing any way she could, and spent many years working for the Naugatuck Visiting Nurses Association.

Mrs. Drown is survived by her sons Roger Drown and his wife Susan J. Drown, David Drown and his late wife Wendy Drown, and Eric Drown; her grandchildren R.J., Amie, Jessamie, Ashley, Rachel, Aaron, Makayla, Jacob, and Joshua; her great-grandchildren Kaylie, Audrey, Jaden, Sophia, Jonathan, Riley, Jordyn, Landon, Bella, Jayla, Kinley, and Jackson. As well as numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sons Bobby and Rodney (survived by his wife Susan); her brothers David and Carl, and her sisters Bernice, Dorothy, Linnea and her favorite dog Toby.

She was a gallivanting grandma and anywhere from the state of Maine to Florida, somebody knew Phoebe Drown, one way or another.

Phoebe had such a gift of making each person in her life feel special, important, and loved. Her faith got her through many rough times and could always be heard singing church hymns. “I don’t know about tomorrow; I just live from day to day” was one of her favorites. While we all mourn our loss, may we find comfort knowing heaven is celebrating her arrival.
