Philip William Kasperzyk

Philip William Kasperzyk, of East Haven, formerly of Cheshire, passed away on June 27, 2024. Philip was born on May 19, 1943 in New Haven, CT to the late John and Helen Kasperzyk.

Phil dedicated 4 years to the United States Navy. He then was a letter carrier for over 30 years, earning him the endearment, “Phil the mailman”. After a career with the USPS, life ushered him into another job of service as a special needs bus driver for the Cheshire Public School System. Phil was a longtime parishioner at St. Thomas of Beckett Church, volunteering his time at events and gatherings. He was an avid golfer, and enjoyed many rounds with his buddies over the years. He also loved to travel; some memorable destinations being the Alamo and the Grand Canyon. From the moment he entered, Phil lit up the room, making everyone laugh. He was extremely social and centered his life around his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored.

Phil leaves behind his daughter, Julie (Odimar) Batista; his life partner, Elaine Hightower; Elaine’s daughter, Sandra (Joshua) Valenti; grandchildren, Sadie, Elijah and Eve Batista, Kayla Vernon, and Jordana and Jackson Valenti; siblings, Steven (Theresa) Kasperzyk, Donna (Richard) Dematties, Deborah Corso and Peter Kasperzyk; sisters-in-law, Karen Gherlone-Kasperzyk and Marilyn Maloney; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy “Dottie Mae” Kasperzyk; brothers, Thomas, John, and Paul; and brother-in-law, Leonard James Maloney III.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main Street.
