Joseph Perrella

Joseph Perrella, 93, of 42 Westbrook Drive in Waterbury, died peacefully at VITAS, St. Mary’s Hospital, on September 6th after a brief illness. Joseph was the husband of VIncenza (Llorens) Perrella. They recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. Joseph was a career optician and co-owner of Wilhelm Optical in Waterbury. He graduated from Duggan School and Crosby High School and studied to become a licensed optician.

Joseph was a veteran of WWII, serving as an army medic with the 68th Medical Depot Company in the Pacific Theater for three years from 1942-1945. Joseph was a musician who played the saxophone, was an avid golfer, gardener, photographer, and health enthusiast. He enjoyed long scenic drives and relaxing with good music.

In addition to his loving wife, Vinnie, Joseph leaves three daughters: Karen Perrella of Branford, Patricia Krukowski of Cheshire, and Lois Perrella of Wolcott. He also leaves granddaughters, Katherine Krukowski and Kara Krukowski of Cheshire; sister-in-law, Antoinette Marcucci of Watertown; and several nieces and nephews. Joseph was pre-deceased by brothers Frank Perrella and John Perrella; sister Evelyn Fucito; and son-in-law, Joseph Krukowski.

A mass celebrating the life of Joseph Perrella will take place at St. Anthony’s Church in Prospect, on Wednesday, September 11, at 10:00 am. Friends may pay their respects at Buckmiller Funeral Home, 26 Waterbury Rd, Rte. 69, Prospect on Wednesday morning from 9: a.m. until time of service. Burial is at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury.
