John Pereira

Naugatuck, CT John “Joao” Pereira, 69, died unexpectedly on May 3, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital.

John was born February 4, 1954 in Portugal a son of the late Narciso and Maria (Oliveira) Pereira and had lived in Naugatuck for most of his life. John attended Naugatuck schools and graduated from Emmett O’Brien Technical High School, and worked as an electrician for Rogers Electric in New Britain.


John is survived by a sister, Maria Fonseca of Mount Vernon, NY, three brothers, Manuel Pereira and his wife, Diane of Watertown, Adelino Pereira of Naugatuck and Jose Pereira of Naugatuck; nieces and nephews, Sandra Zilka of NC, Christina Mercado of Waterbury, Daniel Pereira of Watertown, Jessica Straker of Naugatuck and several great nieces and great nephews.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Everyone attending is kindly asked to please meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Thursday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
