Pedro Lopes

NAUGATUCK – Pedro Lopes, 85, passed away August 6, 2014 at his home. He was the husband of Maria "Helena" (DaSilva) Lopes.

Mr. Lopes was born April 25, 1929 in Brazil. He moved to Portugal at the age of two before moving to the U.S. in 1967. He was a longtime Mason for Calabrese Construction. He enjoyed playing cards, music, fishing and was a lifelong fan of Benfica soccer team. Most importantly he loved spending time with his family.

Besides his wife of 60 years, Mr. Lopes is survived by his sons Abel Lopes of Prospect and Pedro Lopes and his wife Shannon of Naugatuck; his daughters Maria Manuela Goncalves and her husband Tony of NJ and Maria Rosa Lopes of NJ; his grandchildren Marco, Paulo, Nicole, Tommy, Tatiana, Mason and Ethan; as well as his great grandchildren Santiago, Leila, Marcus, Connor and Leo.

Arrangements – Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 9, 2014, 9 a.m. from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck to Our Lady of Fatima Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2911 Dixwell Ave., Hamden, CT 06518.
