Our kind and loving mother, grandmother and friend Pauline Bukowski passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 3rd. She was an amazingly strong woman who had battled Pulmonary Fibrosis for many years.
Born in New Haven in 1942 to Frank and Rosina (Amento) Piccuci. Pauline worked at Nationwide and Allstate and made many friends. She has 2 children, Rose and Frank Solla of Cheshire. In 1985 she met Daniel Bukowski and the two of them escaped to their own paradise in Myrtle Beach SC. She was the ultimate host and we can all still hear her say - Can I get you a drink? Their home in SC was an escape for all of us and they truly welcomed the many, many visitors they had. In Myrtle Beach she became a property manager for Century 21- Barefoot Vacations until she retired in 2004. She was a devoted parishioner of the Belin Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet, SC. She loved her Bible study group, was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed her African Violets club. She loved the beach, the inlet and their pet birds, Puff and Kishka.
In 2015 Pauline and Daniel moved back to CT to be surrounded by their family as they closed the last chapter of their life. Pauline's cousin Pauline "Honeygirl" and Dan's sister Janice eased the transition back home and became their constant companions. Although they both missed their paradise in SC, they loved spending time with family and friends and looking out onto the mountain in their backyard that was home to many deer, turkey's, rabbits, birds and her beloved chipmunk, Chi Chi.
Pauline was predeceased by her husband Daniel, his daughter Debbie, her brother in-law Robert Sakowicz, her brother Frank and her wife Toni Picucci and her parents Frank and Rosina Picucci. She is survived by her two children Rose and her husband Robert Smith and Frank Solla. Daniel's three sons; Daniel and his wife Barbara, David and his wife Robin, Dean and his wife Kelly; eleven grandchildren, Jake, Andrew and Margaret Solla, Victoria and Erika Palmer, Kaleb, Korey, Kelcey Bukowski, Courtney Rudnick, Adam and Christopher Newbury and one great-granddaughter Peyton Newbury.
Pauline's funeral will leave the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 South Main St. Cheshire, CT 06410 on Sunday, August 7, 2016 at 12:30 pm for a funeral service at 1:00 pm at the United Methodist Church, 205 Academy Rd., Cheshire. Friends may greet her family at the funeral home on Sunday at 11:00 am until her procession leaves for the church.
