CHESHIRE – Paul Robert Gerencser, 42, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017.
Paul was born June 14, 1974 in New Haven, the son of Robert J. and Marcia L. (Franco) Gerencser. He was a longtime Cheshire resident and attended local schools. Paul attended prep school at Bridgton Academy in North Bridgton, ME before enrolling at Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI. He graduated in 1998 with a degree in business. Paul played four years of varsity lacrosse for the RWU Hawks and was team co-captain his senior year.
Paul had a very successful career in healthcare sales and received numerous awards throughout his career for his outstanding performance and team-oriented mindset. His experience included roles at WebMD, NaviNet and Advance Healthcare Network.
Paul loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. Among the many waters that Paul fished, in addition to Connecticut, were Gloucester, MA, the Dominican Republic, Aruba, Bahamas, and Mexico. Paul was a lifelong and diehard fan of the Red Sox and New England Patriots and traveled to the World Series and Super Bowl to cheer on his teams. He also loved going to Yale hockey games and the ECAC hockey tournament with his father.
Paul was a loving son and a regular parishioner at St. Bridget’s Church. Like his mother, Paul had an upbeat personality and a smile that lit up any room. He was the most loyal and dedicated friend that anyone could ask for and will be missed by all.
Besides his parents, of Cheshire, Paul is survived by his brother Stephen Gerencser and his wife Kate of Providence, RI; his sister Sally Anastos and her husband Tarsey of Cheshire; his nieces Margot and Meriwether and nephew James Robert.
Calling hours will be held Friday, May 26 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 S. Main St., Cheshire. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 27 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St. Burial will follow at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven.
