WATERBURY; Paul C. Belval, 90, of Waterbury, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret M. (Collins) Belval, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.
Paul was born January 20, 1933 in Waterbury, a son of the late Rosario E. and Levina (Chevrette) Belval and was a lifelong Waterbury resident. He was a 1951 graduate of Leavenworth High School. Following graduation, Paul entered the apprenticeship program at Scovill MFG and after completion he was employed as a tool and die maker there for several years. He later worked for Edson Manufacturing in Wolcott and retired from Risdon Manufacturing in Naugatuck in 1998 after many years. After his retirement, Paul worked for several years as a funeral assistant with the Alderson, Slater, and Mulville Funeral Homes. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He loved traveling with his wife Margie, especially to Cape Cod and Maine, but mostly he enjoyed spending time with his family. Paul was a Communicant of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.
Paul leaves his son, Paul G. Belval and Suzanne Peracchio of Middletown; his daughter, Michele Gargano and her husband, Joseph of Naugatuck; his grandchildren, Katie and her husband, Dan; Lizzie and her fiancé, Rob; Matthew and Ryan; his great-grandson, Cameron; his sister, Janet Cannuciari of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, George Belval.
Funeral services in celebration of Paul’s life will be held on Monday December 4, 2023 beginning at 9:30 a.m. from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 496 Chase Avenue and proceed to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main Street in Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Prayers of committal and interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Watertown. Friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday morning from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Archdiocese of Hartford Office of Radio and Television, 15 Peach Orchard Road, Prospect, CT 06712-1052.
