Palma Mauro

CHESHIRE – Palma (Biolo) Mauro, 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Elim Park Place in Cheshire. She was the wife of the late John Mauro.

Palma was born April 25, 1929 in Waterbury, a daughter of the late John and Esther (Baldassari) Biolo. She was raised in Waterbury and attended local schools graduating from Wilby High School. She moved to Wolcott, CT in 1962 and resided there until she moved to Cheshire with her daughter and son-in-law in 1985. She worked for many years for the Town of Wolcott and later for Thermo Conductor Services Inc.

Palma loved taking care of family and cooking for them. She specialized in stuffed breads, pizza, and good old Italian food. She also enjoyed playing cards and Scrabble with family and friends and working outside in the yard. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her granddaughters and great-granddaughter.

Palma is survived by her daughter, Pamela Matfus, and her husband Dennis, of Cheshire; her brother, Dino Biolo and his wife, Dolores, of Waterbury; her sister-in-law Patricia Biolo of Watertown; her granddaughter, Carly Keane and her husband Ryan; her granddaughter, Kristie; her great-granddaughter Margaux; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Ann Altieri, and her brothers, Anthony “B” Biolo, Elio Biolo, Louis Biolo, and John Biolo.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Palma’s long time caregivers Grace Raccio and Jamira Sanchez. Also, a thank you to the staff of Elim Park Place and Franciscan Hospice Care for their kindness and care.

Donations can be made in Palma’s name to Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care, 267 Finch Avenue, Meriden, CT 06451 or Elim Park Place, 140 Cook Hill Road, Cheshire, CT 06410.
