Naugatuck- Mr. Alfred R. Paiva Jr., age 77, of 321 Rubber Ave., passed away suddenly Monday June 7, 2010 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Dorothy L. (Hay) Paiva.
Mr. Paiva was born in Rhode Island on June 21, 1932 son of the late Alfred R. and Margaret (Pevin) Paiva. He was a longtime resident of Naugatuck and was retired from Valley Mental Health in Ansonia where he worked as a Psychosocial Counselor. He was an avid UCONN, New York Yankees and Boston Celtics fan, enjoyed shooting pool, a Harley Davidson enthusiast and loved dogs.
Mr. Paiva was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during the Korea war and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1946 in Naugatuck.
Besides his wife, Mr. Paiva is survived by his children: Clarissa, Dana, Desiree and Dannielle, his step children: Scott, Shannon and Sherry and his grandchildren: Chantel, Siobhan,Stephanie, Connor, Nathan, Alicia, Taylor, Breannalyn, Justes, Madisyn, Kal, Jason and Ashton, Aunt Flo and Uncle Freddy and cousins: Cook, Dottie, Paul, and Buddy.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at the Naugatuck V.F.W. Post 1946 Hall, 239 Rubber Ave., Naugatuck, on Monday June 28, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the V.F.W. Hall on Monday June 28, 2010 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home 82 Fairview Ave. Naugatuck is in charge of arrangements.
