CHESHIRE - Owen Flynn, 82, of Cheshire passed away surrounded by family Monday, September 26, 2016 at Mid-State Medical. He was the husband of Sally (Gay) Flynn who passed away in 2006 after 50 years of marriage.
Owen was born September 28, 1933 in Bristol CT, he was the son of Raymond and Ann (Malley) Flynn. A graduate of Bristol High School, Owen attended Arnold College before enlisting in the US Army and serving overseas. Upon his return Owen held numerous sales positions until establishing his very successful independent manufacturer's representative firm Flynn Associates in 1978. He continued to work in this capacity until recently.
Owen was very active in the Cheshire community and a member of the Cheshire Exchange Club. A long time avid golfer and past member of Wallingford County Club, Owen was a proud sponsor and participant of the Victorian House Open. Owen enjoyed his social circles whether it be breakfast with the guys, afternoons at The Vic, or monthly dinners with his childhood friends. He was a well-respected man and good friend to all.
He is survived by his children Karen Zeena and her husband Bob of Cheshire, Nancy Lovelady and her husband Skip of Greeenbrae, CA, Kevin Flynn of Cheshire, Brian Flynn and his wife Debbie of Cheshire as well as his grandchildren Sean Raboin, Laura Zeena, Austin Lovelady, Rebecca and Sarah Flynn; his brother Michael and wife Anne Marie of East Haddam and son-in- law Rit Raboin of Terryville. These last several years he was fortunate to have the love and companionship of Janet Strange, also of Cheshire. Besides his wife Owen is predeceased by his brother Raymond and his daughter Debbi Raboin.
The family would like to thank Smilow Cancer at Yale New Haven Hospital for the excellent care Owen received as well as the caring doctors and staff at Mid-State Medical Center.
Arrangements - Family and friends are invited to a funeral service on Saturday October 1, 2016 at 12p.m. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
