Cheshire - Otis Shepard, 87, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Masonicare Health Center. He was the husband of the late Mary (Anderson) Shepard who passed away in 2014.

Mr. Shepard was born July 6, 1936, in Exeter, NH, the son of the late Roger and Ruth (Hoyt) Shepard. He was a longtime Cheshire resident moving to town in 1980. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was an avid Red Sox fan who enjoyed working with children. Shortly after moving to Cheshire, "Mickey" as he was affectionately known, became the head of the kitchen at Cheshire Academy and also worked as a short-order cook at the Farm Shop. Never idle, he drove a school bus for many years after his official retirement and then became a bus monitor before finally retiring permanently around the age of 80.

He is survived by his daughter Lynne Provost and her husband Bill; his grandchildren Eric and Jonathan, and their wives, Tristan and Shawna; as well as his great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements – Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the First Congregational Church of Cheshire, 111 Church Dr., Cheshire at 10 am. Committal in the CT State Veteran’s Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Burial will be held at the State Veterans Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Cheshire Animal Shelter Volunteers, c/o Cheshire Animal Control, 500 Highland Ave., Cheshire, CT 06410.
