Naugatuck, CT Francisco F. Oliveira, 81, the husband of Maria E. Oliveira, died peacefully at his home on July 12, 2017, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous 2 year battle with cancer.
Francisco was born on November 9, 1935 in Murtosa, Portugal a son of the late Agostinho Oliveira and Maria Rosaria Fidalgo Oliveira and had lived in Naugatuck for the past 44 years. He was a retired employee of Risdon Manufacturing and was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church. He loved spending time with his family, gardening and doing work around his home.
In addition to his loving wife Maria, he leaves a son, Frank Oliveira and his wife Lisa; 2 daughters, Maria A. Rodrigues and her husband John and Connie Oliveira; his beloved grandchildren, Carissa Oliveira, Christopher Rodrigues, Amanda Oliveira and Natalie Rodrigues; his brothers and sisters in law, Luis and Fernanda Oliveira, Jose and Maria Oliveira, Agostinho and Ana Luisa Oliveira and Jack and Rosamaria Oliveira; his sisters, Marcelina Oliveira and husband Miguel, Maria Elisa Oliveira, Maria Jose Oliveira and husband David, Ana Fidalgo Oliveira and Maria Rosalia daSilva and husband Manuel and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Francisco was predeceased by his brother, Albino Oliveira.
The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Fausto M. Lanao, Dr. Victor Chang, the nurses and staff at the Harold Leever Cancer Center and the staff at Hartford Health Care Hospice for the wonderful care that they provided.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin Street, Waterbury. Everyone is kindly asked to go directly to church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. Calling hours are Friday, July 14, 2017 from 5-8pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. To honor Francisco’s memory, contributions can be made to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin Street, Waterbury, CT 06706 or to the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center, 1075 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, CT 06708.
