Naugatuck, CT Bruce E. Ober, 74, died peacefully on November 11, 2023 at Trinity Terraces Health Center.
Bruce was born April 8, 1949 in Waterbury, CT a son of the late Eugene Dorsey Ober and Valentina (Renzoni) Ober. Bruce attended St. Francis Grammar School, Community School in Prospect, where he was raised, and graduated in 1967 from W.F. Kaynor Technical High School in Waterbury. Bruce began his career as a master toolmaker by serving his apprenticeship at Risdon Manufacturing Company in Naugatuck and then worked at Braxton Manufacturing in Watertown from 1978-2014. His toolmaking skills were known throughout the industry.
Bruce was an avid boater, fisherman and Harley Davidson guy and he enjoyed spending time at the beach.
Bruce is survived by his daughter, Wendy L. Ober of Naugatuck; his sister and brother in law, Patricia and Jim Palmer of Prospect; his brothers, Eugene R. Ober of Pittsburg, NH, Wayne R. Ober of Fort Pierce, FL, Bradd J. Ober and his wife, Yvonne Dandeneau Ober of Falls Village, CT and Douglas P. Ober of Jupiter, FL. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Bruce was predeceased by his grandparents, Eugene K. and Agnes Ober and Valentino and Gina Renzoni Vagnini.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 10:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church Street, Naugatuck. Everyone attending is asked to please meet directly at church. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Friday, November 17, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers and to honor Bruce’s memory, donations are requested to the Alzheimer’s Association, 200 Executive Blvd., Suite 4b, Southington, CT 06489.
