WATERBURY- Mr. Norman S. Sena, 90, of Waterbury, passed away Sunday morning at the VITAS Hospice Unit at St. Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of Joan (Noveck) Sena.
Mr. Sena was born April 13, 1923 in Newark, NJ, a son of the late Samuel and Fann16 (Dorflaufer) Sena and was a Waterbury resident since his early childhood. He graduated from Driggs Elementary and Crosby High Schools, and attended the University of Vermont, before going into WWII, where he served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS St. Paul. Upon his discharge, he returned to Waterbury to join Sena's Recreation Center and Sena's Supply Company. He sponsored the annual bowling carnival in support of the Newington Home for Children, and March of Dimes. He was a member of Liberty-Continental Lodge A.F the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Waterbury, and the Lafayette Consistory, 32 degree. Valley of Bridgeport, and the Sphinx Shriners of Newington. He was one of the founders of Crestbrook Country Club, Watertown, and a member of Beth El Synagogue.
In addition to wife, Joan of 65 years, he leaves a daughter Dale Sena of Tampa, son Mark Sena and daughter-in-law Linda Saul-Sena of Tampa, granddaughters Aliza Sena and Gabrielle Sena of New York. He was predeceased by daughter Nancy Sena.
A private graveside service will be held on Tuesday Oct.1, 2013 at the Hebrew Benefit Cemetery, Stillson Rd., Waterbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 2969 Whitney Avenue #1 Hamden, Ct. 06518.
