Nicholas A. DelRosso, Jr.

Cheshire – Nicholas A. DelRosso, Jr., 83, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at his home in Cheshire, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Gretchen (Anderson) DelRosso, with whom he shared 58 wonderful years of marriage.

Nicholas was born on June 28, 1941, in Waterbury, the son of the late Nicholas Sr. and Nellie (Morrone) DelRosso. A proud graduate of Central Connecticut State University and Fairfield University, Nicholas excelled both academically and athletically, playing college baseball and earning the respect of teammates and coaches alike. His love for the game was a reflection of his competitive spirit, teamwork, and passion for life.

For many years, Nicholas worked as a school counselor for the Wolcott Department of Education, where he made a lasting impact on the students and colleagues he served. Beyond his professional life, Nicholas was an avid lifelong golfer who cherished his time on the course. He was a proud member of the Torrington Country Club in Connecticut and Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he built lasting friendships and shared many memorable rounds. For over 20 years, Nicholas and Gretchen embraced the joys of being “snowbirds,” dividing their time between Connecticut and Florida.

Nicholas was known for his charm, warm smile, and a personality that lit up every room he entered. He was loved by all who were fortunate enough to meet him, leaving a legacy of kindness, laughter, and genuine connection. Whether sharing stories, offering encouragement, or enjoying the company of friends and family, Nicholas had an extraordinary gift for making those around him feel valued and loved.

In addition to his beloved wife Gretchen, Nicholas leaves behind his sons, Jeffrey DelRosso and his wife Leanne of Cheshire, and Thomas DelRosso and his wife Andrea of Wallingford. He will be deeply missed by his cherished grandchildren, Isabella, Sophia, Taylor, and Aaron who brought immeasurable joy to his life. Nicholas also leaves behind countless friends, both in Connecticut and Florida, who enriched his life with camaraderie and love.
