Newton K. Thomas, 68, of Cheshire passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at his residence. He is survived by his wife Sandra J. Thomas, whom he was married to for 43 years.
Newton was born February 10, 1941 in New Haven, CT and was the son of the late Walter E. and Alice (Watson) Thomas.
Newton attended Hamden High School; he was employed at Praxair in North Haven prior to his retirement, and was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in Vietnam.
Newton was an avid Boston Red Sox, and New England Patriots fan, in his spare time he was a member of a Duckpin Bowling League at Johnson Lanes in Hamden.
Besides his wife,Newton is survived by two sons, Kenneth Thomas of Wallingford, and David Thomas of Meriden, a sister Nancy and her husband John Heg of Naples, FL, and a grandson Kyle N. Thomas, he was predeceased by his daughter in law Sandra L. Thomas.
Arrangements- A Mass of Christian Burial for Newton will be held Monday, December 28, 2009 9:15 A.M from The Slater Funeral Home, 242 South Main Street to St. Bridget's Church, 175 Main Street, Cheshire for Mass at 10 A.M. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Higgins Rd, Cheshire. Calling hours will be held Sunday, December 27, 2009 from 4 to 8 P.M at the Funeral Home.
