Beacon Falls – Nancy Ann Zapatka, 84, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at her home with her caring family surrounding her. She was the loving wife of John E. Zapatka of Beacon Falls.

Mrs. Zapatka was born January 8, 1941, in Washington D.C., the daughter of the late Karl and Margaret (McKeon) Barry. She was a Registered Nurse working at the Hospital of St. Raphael, Griffin Hospital, and then later at Glendale Nursing Center. Nancy was devoted to her family and her faith. She loved being a mom, a nurse, and enjoyed animals, art, coloring, and painting. 

Besides her husband of almost 60 years, Mrs. Zapatka is survived by her daughters Susan and Melissa “Missy” Zapatka both of Beacon Falls; her sisters Barbara Barry of Derby, RoseMarie Gruttadauria of MA, her sister-in-law Sandra Robinson of Naugatuck, and her furry four-legged granddaughter Zoey. She is also survived by her niece Heather Grillo and her husband Anthony Grillo and nephews Michael Gruttadauria and his wife Tracy Gruttadauria, Bryan Gruttadauria, Matthew Gruttadauria and his wife Lisa Gruttadauria and Matthew Knapik; her many great nieces and nephews Jared Grillo, Sydney Grillo, Jack Gruttadauria, Thomas, Joseph and Anna Gruttadauria, Zack and Emily Shell, and Josh, Austin, and Aurora Knapik. She is predeceased by her daughter Lisa Marie, her brother-in-law’s Anthony Gruttadauria and Earl Robinson, and her furry four-legged grandchildren, Joy, AWOL, and Freight. 

Our family wishes to thank all of our friends, family, neighbors, and Beacon Hose Co. No. 1 for their constant support and love over the years. We wish to thank our care team, Mary Martinez and VITAS nurses, Stacey and Heather, you all are wonderful. I personally want to wish my VA work family/team for all the love, support and coverage during this time and always.

Arrangements – Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family and there are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck is assisting with the arrangements.
