NAUGATUCK – Nancy Jean Carreiro Henao, 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Torrington Center for Nursing & Rehabilitation in Torrington, CT.
Nancy was born February 20, 1940, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Jesse Carreiro and Flora (Sampson) Carreiro. She was a dedicated nurse’s aide at the former Glendale nursing home in Naugatuck for 25 years. Her passion in life was taking care of others which led her to become a volunteer for hospice. She also enjoyed writing stories in her free time, and published a children’s book “Shoe Town USA.”
Nancy leaves behind her son, John Henao, of Washington, and her daughters, Lisa Cassidy, of Southbury and Robin Fonseca and her husband Auggie, of Naugatuck. She will also be missed by her sister Dorothy Zaikas of Watertown. Nancy was a loving grandmother and leaves behind her grandchildren, Nicole Sciascia, Meaghan, Manny, and Emily Fonseca. She also leaves behind her great grandchildren Lucas and Jaxson as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Henao was predeceased by her brother Richard Carreiro, and her sisters Janet Goulet, and Lorraine Ferreira.
Arrangements – A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024, at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St., Naugatuck. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck. There are no calling hours and The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Naugatuck is assisting with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in her name, may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
