SOUTHBURY- Nancy H. Camp, 81, of Southbury and Weekapaug, RI, died on August 29th. She was born in Waterbury to the late Orton Platt and Miriam (Noble) Camp.
She attended the former St. Margaret's (now Chase Collegiate) School and graduated from The Masters School (Dobbs Ferry, NY) and Connecticut College. After receiving an MBA from The Wharton School, she shifted to a career in education, and spent 25 years teaching middle school mathematics at the Potomac School in McLean, VA.
On retirement, Nancy returned to the Waterbury area and quickly became an active volunteer, serving on the boards of The Girls Club, the Southmayd Home and Chase Collegiate School. In Weekapaug she was treasurer of the Chapel Society for many years, and was an original member of the Board of the Weekapaug Foundation for Conservation. Until recently Nancy was seen year-round on the tennis court and, in the summer, on the beach for her two daily swims.
She was predeceased by her brother, Orton Camp Jr., and is survived by her sister, Mimi (Miriam) Niederman, her nephews Timothy and Derrick and nieces Eliza and Caroline.
Arrangements- A Memorial Gathering will be held at Pomperaug Woods in Southbury, on Friday September 6, 2013 at 12 P.M. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave, 06710 is assisting with the arrangements.
