NAUGATUCK- Mrs. N. Elaine (Meares) Peterson, of Naugatuck, passed away on Friday July 20, 2012 at the Waterbury Hospital. She was the wife of the late Harold D. D. Peterson, who passed away in 2009 after 66 years of marriage.
Mrs. Peterson was born in Anona, FL, July 26, 1212, a daughter of the late Stephen J. and Martha F. (James) Meares, and had been a Naugatuck resident since 1943. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church where she had served as church Secretary for 17 years and also was as a Sunday School teacher. She was a volunteer with the Naugatuck Chapter of the American Red Cross in their Bloodmobile program for over 40 years. She was an active member of the Naugatuck Women's Club, and a former member of the Women's Study Club of Naugatuck.
She leaves one son, Harold D. Peterson and his wife Irene of Bolton; one daughter, Martha (Peterson) Lack and her husband Tommy of Raymond, MS; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by four siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Burial will be in Arnot Swedish Cemetery, Arnot, PA on Thursday at 1p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12 noon until the time of the service.
