WOLCOTT – On Friday, June 11, 2021, Richard “Poppy” Mueller, loving husband and father of eight children, passed away at home on his 89th birthday, surrounded by his loving family. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Fritz, and his mother, Mary. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, his eight children and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Richard was born on June 11, 1932, in Waterbury to Fritz Mueller and Mary (Muckle) Mueller. He was a toolmaker at Timex for 22 years. On July 6, 1974, he married Patricia Ann Rowe.

He leaves behind four children, Glenn Mueller and his wife, Sandy, Wayne Mueller and his wife, Yolanda, Lynn Galliccio and her husband, Chris, Richard Mueller and his wife, Nicole; and four stepchildren, Fred Conner and his wife, Nancy, Terry Conner and his wife, Theresa, Kathleen Conner, and Donna Pace and her husband, Peter. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and several close friends.

Richard had a passion for woodworking, gardening, landscaping, fishing, and hunting. He was known for his kind and compassionate spirit, and his love for all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at 122 Richard Avenue, Wolcott.
