Antonio Moreira

NAUGATUCK, CT Antonio J. Moreira, 73, of Naugatuck, the husband of Manuela DaSilva Moreira, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury.

Antonio was born on July 6, 1942 in Belem Para, Brazil, the son of the late Joaquim Moreira and Joaquina Barros Moreira and had lived in Naugatuck for most of his life. Tony was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 478 and was a retired construction machine operator.

In addition to his loving wife Manuela, Tony is survived by his three daughters, Monica Audette and her husband Wilfred of Saugus, MA, Ivone Almeida and her companion John Capozzi of Trumbull, CT, and Karla MacDonald and her husband Eric of Melrose, MA; his sisters, Fatima Taviera, Nazare Moreira and Graca Moreira all of Portugal, his 5 grandchildren, Shelbie, Courtnie, Jordyne, Taylor and Ryan and 2 nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2071 Baldwin Street, Waterbury, and those planning on attending are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue.
