WATERBURY- Stephen Lee Mooneyham, 34, passed away suddenly on July 17, 2018 at his home.

Stephen was born in Walterboro, South Carolina, on April 11, 1984, son of Robert L. Mooneyham and the Late Deborah J. Mullen. Stephen attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Naugatuck High School, class of 2002. Stephen enjoyed playing football from, the Pop Warner League all the way through his senior year of high school. He loved nature, especially hiking. He would often hike to High Rock and frequently went off trails to explore. He was also a talented cook. He was honest, kind hearted and adored his neice, Alexia.

In addition to his father, Stephen is survived by his step-mother, Carol; his sister, Ryan; his niece Alexia; and his paternal grandparents, Robert L. Mooneyham, and Beulah Mooneyham. Stephen now goes to join his mother and maternal grandparents, Howard and Kathleen Mullen, who predeceased him.

A funeral service will be held at 5:30pm on Friday, July 27, 2018 at the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. Calling hours will be from 4pm till the time of the service on Friday. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.buckmillerthurstonmengacci.com.
