CHESHIRE- Mildred ( Millie) Kennedy, 99, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at her home in Cheshire surrounded by her beloved son and daughter. She was the wife of the late Gerald Kennedy.
Mrs. Kennedy was born February 17, 1922, in Waterbury, CT., daughter of the late Albert and Catherine (Hatton) Mann. After graduating from Waterbury public schools, she worked many jobs including a laundromat, delivering newspapers and as a secretary for a local manufacturer. Eventually she took a position for Uniroyal Tire in Naugatuck as a key punch operator before retiring in the late 80’s. Mildred then worked at Cheshire High School in the copier room from 1987 until her retirement in 2016 at the age of 94! The Cheshire High school faculty celebrated “Mille Kennedy Day”, the day of her retirement from Cheshire Public Schools. Her favorite part of the day was enjoying a cup of tea while reading the daily newspapers.
Mrs. Kennedy leaves behind her son, Roger Kennedy and her daughter, Eileen Kennedy. She will also be missed by her granddaughter Elizabeth Buckley, grandson Tommy Graves, and her two great grandchildren Jack and Ben Buckley. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Kennedy was predeceased by her two brothers Harald and Walter Mann, and daughter Diane Graves.
Arrangements: PLEASE NOTE DATE CHANGES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Bridget of Sweden Parish-St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening, February 8, 2022, from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in her name, may be made to the Cheshire Senior Center, Cheshire, CT.
