MIDDLEBURY- Mildred A. Dwyer, 97, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at The Middlebury Convalescent Home. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas W. Dwyer.
Mildred was born June 14, 1913 in Providence, RI, and was the daughter of the late Edward and Harriett (Sylvester) Adams.
Mildred was a communicate of St. John of the Cross Church, a volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital and the Red Cross, a Nurses Aide at St. Mary's Hospital, the first President of the St. John of the Cross Altar Society and a trustee of the Church. She also was an avid reader and knitter having knit caps for newborns at Waterbury Hospital.
Mildred is survived by three sons, Patrick and his wife Patricia Dwyer of Middlebury, Richard Dwyer of Middlebury, and William and his wife Marci Dwyer of Southbury; two daughters, Barbara Dwyer Brown of Annapolis, MD, and MaryAnn and her husband Stephen Crosby of Ellicott City, MD; eighteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; and two great- great grandchildren. Mildred was predeceased by a son Thomas Dwyer, a daughter Catherine Welch, a brother Raymond Adams, a sister Irene Abel, a daughter-in-law Yvonne Dwyer, and a son-in-law Robert Z. Brown.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Middlebury Convalescent Home for their kind and compassionate care over the past two years.
Arrangements- Mildred's funeral will be held 9 A.M, Friday, July 16, 2010 from The Mulville Funeral Home, 270 West Main St., Waterbury to St. John of the Cross Church, 1089 Whittemore Rd., Middlebury, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. Burial will follow in Middlebury Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday, July 15, 2010 from 5 to 8 P.M at the funeral home. Donations in Mildred's name may be made to Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department, 65 Tucker Hill Road, 06762.
