LITCHFIELD- Mildred A. (Brdey) Vanasse, 87 passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Litchfield Woods. She was the loving wife of Eugene J. Vanasse Jr. who predeceased her in 2002 after 36 years of marriage.

Mrs. Vanasse was born January 5, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY daughter of Deputy Inspector (N.Y.P.D) Walter and Henrietta (Klonowski) Brdey.

Mildred worked for General Motors at their corporate offices in New York City. She was the lead soprano in the General Motors glee club. In 1966 she retired from General Motors, and married her husband and settled in New Preston. Mildred worked for the New Milford Parks and Recreation Department as an Arts and Crafts Teacher; she then worked for the New Preston Boys & Girls Club running the girls program. The town of Washington hired her to manage their summer recreation program which she did for three years. Upon moving to Litchfield she got back into the automotive business and worked at Litchfield Ford as an Administrative Assistant. She also worked at The Tapping Reeve Law School and White Memorial.

Mrs. Vanasse had a love for the opera, classical music, going to the casino, and playing bingo. She sang in many church choirs. Mildred was also a member and past President of the Thomaston Ladies Coral Club.

Millie’s family would like to thank Litchfield Woods and their employees for the care they provided her over the past year.

She leaves behind her son Ted and his fiancée LeAnne Nadeau of Litchfield; great nephew Matthew Brdey of New Jersey; Millie’s faithful companion and pet Kimby the Schnauzer; and many nieces and nephews from her husband’s family. Millie was predeceased by her brother Edward Brdey Sr., and her nephew Edward Brdey Jr.

Arrangements- A Mass of Christian Burial for Mildred will be held 11:30 A.M, Friday, December 8, 2017 at Lourdes in Litchfield Shrine, 50 Montfort Road, Litchfield, CT 06759. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the Shrine. Burial will follow in East Street Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury, 496 Chase Ave, 06704 is assisting the family with the arrangements. Donations in her name can be made to the Northfield Fire Company, 12 Knife Shop Road, Northfield, CT 06778, please mark check Utility Truck Fund.
