CHESHIRE - Michele Annette Arpin, 61, entered into eternal rest on July 20, 2015. She was born May 24, 1954, in New Haven, daughter of the late Arthur & MaryAnn (Tiskus) Arpin. She is survived by her sister Lisa Arpin of Branford, her brother Russell (Vicki) Arpin of Cheshire, her niece and goddaughter Nicole (Michael) Petersen of Meriden, her nephew Tyler Arpin (Stephanie Miller) of Rocky Hill, and several cousins.
Michele grew up in Hamden and is a graduate of Russell Sage College, Troy, NY where she earned her B.S. in Nursing, cum laude with departmental honors. She was also elected to Phi Kappa Phi national honor society and Sigma Theta Tau national honor society of nursing.
For many years Michele applied her registered nurse skills providing home care, skilled surgical nursing at Hospital of St. Raphael and Yale-New Haven Hospital, followed by staff nurse responsibilities, nurse recruitment, and weekend supervisor and special project coordinator positions at CT Hospice. Later in her career she worked at JoAnn Fabrics, drawn to the work due to her passion for the “needle arts”. She had an amazing talent for sewing, knitting, quilting, and counted cross-stitch. Many of her show-worthy pieces were crafted while cheering on the UConn women’s basketball team. When she wasn’t at the sewing machine or doing needlework, Michele loved to travel on cruise ships, cook (butternut squash casserole and taco salad were family favorites), do crossword puzzles with ease to completion, and in the fall, join in on the pumpkin carving tradition with the family.
